About the Author

This is just a short excerpt for the about page.

Hey! If you found yourself here, chances are you wanted to know a little bit about me. My name is Erin Leigh. I am 35 years old and I currently live in Albany, N.Y. with my adorable 2 year old mini me. She is the light of my life and shaping up to be an incredible little human being. Together we spend our days playing and soaking up the sun. Watching her grow up and come into her own is an amazing experience.

When I am not busy single mommin’ I am usually spending my time being a complete and total nerd. I have a love for sci-fi and fantasy, comic books and graphic novels. I love to collect books and funko pop figurines. And like many women, I am absolutely obsessed with diy fashion and the thrill of hunting down the best deals I possibly can on every day essentials and luxury purchases.

Why the name The Kanga Tribe?

Did you know that female kangaroos are the most notorious single mothers of the animal kingdom? Not only do they parent alone, they have two uteruses! They can actually nourish three joeys at one time. One in utero, one developing in their pouch and an older sibling that has left the pouch. Talk about Mom of the year!

I started The Kanga Tribe blog in September of 2017 as a way to share my personal experiences with not only motherhood but more specifically the challenges of being a single mother. I know personally that when I became a single Mom that I felt a sense of a loss of identity. It took me a while to come to grips with it and I had a hard time balancing not only my parental obligations but my social identity.

I’m hoping that through my writing that I will be able not only to help others who find themselves in the same position but also forge some lasting friendships and followers. If this sounds like you, make sure to say hello!
